Carrie Carpenter graduated from University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor's in Secondary Education with an emphasis in History. I am employed at Lake County High School and have been with the school for 5 years.I have also been involved with E4TN as an online teacher for 5 years. In my spare time I enjoy sports, reading and spending time with my family and friends.



Margie Johnson began working in education 14 years ago. During her career, she taught middle school for 7 years in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Before becoming the Title IID Coordinator for the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), she worked for five years as an Instructional Technology Specialist. In a few short months, she has used various web-based tools to digitize the professional learning process, including online forms, online calendars, online video delivery system, and webinars, for all MNPS educators.

Betsy Norris has served as the online courses coordinator for the Bedford County Schools System for the last four years. Betsy has taught at levels 1 thru adult. She received her Ed.S. in Curriculum and Supervision from Middle Tennessee State University. Betsy taught for 30 years in public and private schools with experience in grades 1-12. She has also taught adult computer classes and GED classes. She has served on the advisory board of both Technology and Learning Magazine and the PBS TeacherSource. She often does technology presentations and curriculum consulting. She has done freelance writing for Technology and Learning, PBS, Teacher Created, PC Create It, and TEACHINGpoint.

Kim Ferrell is an E4TN online instructor. I have taught Government and U.S. History for the program. I also am a classroom teacher. I teach Business classes at Lake County High School in northwest TN. I have been teaching for two years.

Tiffany Kelley has been in the field of Technology Education for 18 years. She received her Bachelors degree from the University of Tennessee and Masters degree from University of Memphis. She was a high school career and technical teacher for 10 years prior to assuming the position of District Technology Trainer in the Tipton County School District. She is serving as the e4TN Site Coordinator for the Tipton County School District and currently teaches online for e4TN.

ALAN N. CLARK, Ed.D., COLONEL, USA (Retired)

Chief Technology Officer, Franklin County Schools, Winchester, Tennessee

Alan N. Clark was born and raised in Columbia, Tennessee, and has been an educator, sportsman, and technologist for most of his life in both public and private institutions. In high school, he excelled in leadership, serving as class officer and student body vice president, as well as President of the Key Club and captain of the football and baseball teams. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Tennessee and Middle Tennessee State University. Upon achieving his B.S. degree, he taught and coached in Rutherford County, Tennessee, public schools for nine years, after which he joined the military.

From the Vietnam Era to the 21st Century, Colonel (Ret) Alan N. Clark served his country in the United States Army, both Active and Reserve Components, for over 28 years. He joined the Army at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, and took Basic Training at Ft. Dix, NJ, and AIT at Ft. Belvoir, VA, where he was an Honor Graduate in the 52B20 Mobile Power Electric Generator course. After a stint on Active Duty, he joined the Alabama Army National Guard and was selected for Officer Candidate School, graduating and receiving his commission as a Second Lieutenant from the Ft. Benning, GA, United States Army OCS program.
Clark completed both Signal OBC and Artillery OBC, eventually joining the Tennessee Army National Guard as a Field Artillery Officer. Following a brief career in civil service with the military, he returned to Active Duty.

Completing an assignment as Operations Officer for the 196th FA Bde, Clark joined the 1st BN -181st FA as Executive Officer and was deployed to Operation Desert Storm in support of the 24th Mechanized Division and the VII U.S. Army Corps, with combat duty in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait. Upon return, Clark took battalion command of the 181st and began the conversion from 8" Self-Propelled Artillery to the Multiple Launch Rocket System. Along the way, he completed Command and General Staff College and graduated from the U.S. Army Defense Strategy Course.
In 1995, Colonel Clark was assigned to Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and became the Director of Regional Coordinating Element Delta at Ft. Knox, KY, in charge of the southeast region's Total Army School System. He completed the U.S. Army War College and was promoted to Colonel. He retired July 31, 2000, with over 28 years of service.

His awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Army Commendation Medal w/ 2 oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal w/ silver oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal w/ bronze service star, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/ 2 bronze stars, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ second hourglass device, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal (SA), Flight Crew and Master Recruiter Badges. Colonel Clark has been inducted into the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara (Patron Saint of the Field Artillery) and the OCS Hall of Fame.

Dr. Clark holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has also been actively involved in Education throughout his life. He has taught in the classroom at all levels, Kindergarten through Graduate School, public and private schools, military and civilian environments, and has had a keen interest in working with teachers to use technology in education. He was an Audio-Visual Coordinator for the Rutherford County School System during his nine-year tenure there, used technology extensively throughout his military career, and was an instructor for Tusculum College in Tennessee, teaching Innovative Instructional Technology to Master's Level graduate students in education. He has held positions as Director of Technology at The Bright School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Director of Instructional Technology & Media Services at the Dunwoody Campus of Georgia Perimeter College in Atlanta, and has been serving as the Chief Technology Officer for Franklin County, Tennessee, Schools since February of 2006. He holds professional certifications in Microsoft Networking.

In addition, he has been involved with public television, and was on-air host for WTCI-TV in Chattanooga, TN, for six years, where he marketed educational programming, hosted a high school quiz bowl program, and anchored fund-raising events for the station. Clark also worked in radio for local AM stations and for the University of Tennessee Vol Football Network. Since 2006, he has been an on-air talent for WCDT-AM 1340 in Winchester for football, basketball, and baseball broadcasts. He and a partner operate TMT Productions, a video production company specializing in sports-related video and lifetime achievement documentaries. He has written a book of poetry, numerous articles related to leadership, training, and technology, and is a frequent presenter at technology conferences and conventions. His novel, Temporary Friends, was published as an online Ebook by Freedom Hawaii Press and is now out as a paperback published by TMT Publishing.
Clark also serves on the Middle Tennessee State University National Alumni Board of Directors and is a member of several professional societies and service clubs including Rotary International, where he is on the Board of Directors. He also serves as an Associate Board Member for the Partners in Education Network (PEN) Foundation and is on the Board of Directors for the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. He was named Parent of the Year in 2002 for his work with the Tennessee Association for Gifted and Rotarian of the Year in 2007-2008. An avid sportsman, his hobbies include boating, hiking, and all recreational sports, as well as writing and broadcasting.
